چکیده
Malignancy, cardiovascular events, and infections are the leading causes of death among kidney transplant (KT) recipients. The risk cancer in KT recipient is two to 4 folds increased than general population with reported higher mortality rates. Post-transplant malignancies can be related de novo development, donor-related transmission, recurrence a recipient’s pre-transplant malignancy. Common post transplantation non-melanotic skin cancer, Kaposi sarcoma, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), anogenital cancer. Low incidence of malignancy in heart-transplant recipients in Taiwan: an update and comparison with kidney-transplant recipients.
OBJECTIVE Malignancy is the leading cause of death among heart-transplant recipients. There is a higher incidence of post-transplant malignancy in heart-transplant recipients than in kidney-transplant recipients. This study sought to assess the incidence of malignancy in heart-transplant recipients in Taiwan. METHODS This is a retrospective chart review. RESULTS From 1987 to 2008, 291 patie...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The influence of pretransplant dialysis modality on post-transplant outcomes is not clear. This study examined associations of pretransplant dialysis modality with post-transplant outcomes in a large national cohort of kidney transplant recipients. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENTS Linking the 5-year patient data of a large dialysis organization to the Sc...
متن کاملImmunosuppression and the risk of post-transplant malignancy among cadaveric first kidney transplant recipients.
The success of renal transplantation may be counterbalanced by serious adverse medical events. The effect of immunosuppression on the incidence of de novo neoplasms among kidney recipients should be monitored continuously. Using data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, we studied the association of induction therapy by immunosuppression with antilymphocyte antibodies, with th...
متن کاملLong-term outcomes of elderly kidney transplant recipients.
INTRODUCTION The number of elderly patients with chronic kidney disease increases progressively, challenging the allocation algorithms in a scenario of organ shortage for transplantation. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of age on patient and graft survival. METHODS Evolution of all 366 patients greater than 60 years transplanted between 1998 and 2010 was analyzed versus a control group of ...
